This is a lovely well used 1941 chrome plated steel Zippo.
It has a four barrel hinge, a fourteen hole chimney and the flint wheel has horizontal cut abrasions. The corners feel sharp as the early Zippo's were made using square tubing and it is shorter than the modern models. I purchased this as a 1940 Zippo by the sellers description but I believe Zippo did not produce a steel case until late 1941 (probably December, the attack on Pearl harbour) when prohibitions and limitation orders started to apply. In April 1942 an order prohibited the use of chrome in non-defense products, so it must pre-date that order.
I enjoy the feel of this shape lighter so I have bought replicas to enjoy rather than using this old girl too frequently.
